What is My Target Cares?

My Target Cares is an interactive charitable giving experience at select Target stores to raise awareness and deliver support for non-profits making an impact in communities this fall.

This campaign provides an easy way for Target guests to help support organizations addressing community issues when visiting their local Target store. During this two-month program, 31 participating Target stores in Atlanta, Miami and Dallas will feature three non-profits.

At each store location, $5,000 will be divided among the three non-profits as directed by guests' votes. At the end of the program, each Target store will split up and award its $5,000 donation based on the percentage of eligible votes each non-profit receives for that store.


How can I participate in the program?

Visit any participating Target store location.

In Atlanta and Miami, visit any participating Target store location (see list of participating stores at www.mytargetcares.com) between September 5, 2017 and November 5, 2017 to request a free voting token. Free voting tokens are available at two locations within the select Target store (i) at the checkout, and (ii) at the guest service counter. Limit one token per person per day. After receiving a token, a vote is cast by placing your token in the in-store bin for the non-profit organization bin of your choice. Votes are considered cast once dropped in the bin. Tokens have no cash value and do not represent an actual donation to any non-profit organization; rather, it is just a means to vote for the allocation of the $5,000 donation for this select Target store.

In Dallas, visit any participating Target store location (see list of participating stores at www.mytargetcares.com) between September 5, 2017 and November 5, 2017 to request a free voting code. Free voting codes are available at two locations within the select Target store (i) at the checkout, and (ii) at the guest service counter. Limit one code per person per day. Then visit the My Target Cares website, and follow the instructions to cast your vote via social media user or email address log-in. By visiting the URL and entering their unique code, the guest will have the opportunity to learn more about the three featured non-profits.


How long does the program run?

This program begins at 12:00 AM ET on Tuesday, September 5 and runs until 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, November 5, 2017. The physical voting program runs through the same dates and is bound by and store open and closing times.


How were the nonprofits selected?

The participating non-profits were selected based on a combination of mission statement, zip code, supporter size, social media presence within the market in which they are located, and local issues they help communities address.
